The new Ford Duratec 2 litre engine has been chosen to power the high profile ?Duratec Championship ? the next rung up from the Classic Sports 2000 Championship which uses the well established Ford Pinto engine.
The Duratec is an all aluminium, fuel injected , twin cam 16 valve engine which incorporates the latest thinking in modern production engine design resulting in a compact, light weight unit producing relatively high power and torque.
New standard specification Duratec engines are available from Ford (Dalton Power Products) at a special price to SRCC competitors.
By using what is basically a ?bolt-on? kit of SRCC controlled parts the standard Duratec engine can be converted to Sports 2000 specification. The main components of the conversion kit include individual throttle bodies mounted on a new inlet manifold, dry sump oil system, light weight flywheel with up-rated clutch and a dedicated motorsport engine management ECU. This recently developed kit produces 197 bhp @ 7000 rpm and 160 lbft torque @5500 rpm.
